About the festival
Open to everyone and free of charge
With up to 1,7 million visits, Gothenburg Culture Festival is one of the largest culture festivals in the Nordic region. During the festival, Gothenburg’s streets and town squares are transformed into festival areas where visitors can enjoy cultural events and activities that are open to everyone and free of charge, in a rich selection of culture: opera, art, music, carnival, street theatre, craft, theatre, literature, film, and much more. Here, different food cultures are merged with world artists and local bands.
The festival is environmentally certified by the City of Gothenburg, “Kranmärkt” (only serving tap water), and meets the criteria for Fairtrade City Gothenburg. All food vendors who are authorized to sell food in the festival area fulfill high environmental requirements.
Gothenburg Culture Festival is produced by Göteborg & Co with support from the City of Gothenburg and the Göteborg & Co Trade & Industry Group. Göteborg & Co is a part of Gothenburg City. The festival is also financed together with our partners, and the program is presented together with the cultural life in Gothenburg and the Västra Götaland County.
Gothenburg Culture Festival wants to inspire all visitors to discover something new and continue to experience the city’s cultural offerings for the rest of the year.
Gothenburg Culture Festival's mission
Gothenburg Culture Festival is tasked with offering an annual festival that contributes to a warmer, more humane, and more enjoyable society.
Through the power of the event, the rich cultural offerings are highlighted and strengthened, which contributes to the city of Gothenburg and the entire Västra Götaland County, making it an even more attractive to live and work in, as well as to visit.
