Welcome and lsten to Donia Saleh and Jennifer Hayashida in a conversation about the novel Ya Leila (Albert Bonniers Förlag, 2020). The book is about the love between two friends, about involuntarily straightened spines as a result of inheritance, as a result of our time. And about how struggles can appear as goods in a capitalist era. The novel has received wide attention and been nominated for Borås Tidning's Debutant Prize and the Catapult Prize.
Donia Saleh was born in 1996 in Uppsala and lives in Stockholm. She has a master's degree in Literary Design at the University of Gothenburg. Ya Leila is her debut.
Jennifer Hayashida is a poet, translator and master degree student in artistic design at HDK-Valand, where she is working on a dissertation project concerning literary translation as a place for social change. .
