Culture that is free and open to everyone
With up to 1.7 million visits, the Gothenburg Culture Festival is one of the Nordic region’s biggest festivals of culture. This year, there will be live-streamed concerts and intimate performances instead of enormous festival venues and crowds in the city centre. Visitors can enjoy a wide range of culture, including opera, art, music, improvised theatre, craft, drama, literature, film, sport and much more, free of charge. The Gothenburg Culture Festival aims to inspire all visitors to discover something new, and to continue to experience the city’s cultural offering all year round.
The Gothenburg Culture Festival is produced by Göteborg & Co, part of the City of Gothenburg. The festival is also financed in cooperation with the Gothenburg Culture Festival’s partners, and the programme is presented together with cultural life in Gothenburg and Västra Götaland County.
The Gothenburg Culture Festival’s mission is to offer an annual festival that contributes towards a more human, more enjoyable and more sustainable society.
The event raises awareness of and strengthens the rich cultural offering that helps to make Gothenburg and Västra Götaland County an even more attractive place to live and work in, and to visit.
The Gothenburg Culture Festival has been an environmentally certified event for several years, and this is verified by the City of Gothenburg’s Environmental Administration in accordance with the Swedish Environmental Base Standard. It is also a ‘Eco-tap’ labelled event that meets the Fairtrade City Göteborg criteria.
